FY 2006 FoodPAC Research Program Project Proposals Due February 7

Project proposals for the FY 2006 FoodPAC Research Program are due by 5 p.m. Monday, February 7. Please remember that all proposals must be electronically (MicroSoft Word files only) submitted by e-mail to foodpac@gtri.gatech.edu. Paper copies and computer disks will not be accepted nor will proposals received after 5 p.m. Also, all proposal worksheets (i.e., budget, equipment, cost-share funds) must be completed in the format provided. You can access the Call for Proposals guidelines online at http://foodpac.gatech.edu.

FoodPAC's Technical Committees will meet in late February/early March to review proposals that address research priorities in the program's three technical areas: Environmnetal, Food Safety & Health, and Process & Product Improvement. FoodPAC has requested $1.1 million in state funds for project funding in FY 2006 and anticipates that the Governor will support this in his FY 2006 budget proposal to the General Assembly.

June 30, 2005 FY 2005 research projects completed

July 1, 2005 FY 2006 research projects begin

September 1, 2005 FY 2005 final project reports due

FoodPAC's Fiscal Year 2004-2005 Report to Industry is now available. The report gives an overview of the Traditional Industries Program for Food Processing, provides the FoodPAC committee leadership listing, and highlights the research results of 15 projects conducted during FY 2004 as well as activity plans for FY 2005.

Food Processing Industry Directory Information Needed

FoodPAC, in conjunction with the Georgia Agribusiness Council, has agreed to assist the Georgia Department of Economic Development in developing a directory of companies and academic institutions supporting the food processing industry in Georgia. This directory will serve as a catalyst in generating economic opportunities for the state as well as provide a point-of- contact reference guide for the food processing and allied industries and academia.
